The County School Inspectorate Brasov is a local public authority headed by a General Inspector. Its main aim is to implement at the local level the educational policy of the Romanian Ministry of Education. It coordinates and guides the educational process in the pre university educational units in the county - consisting of 165 schools with over 84.000 pupils enrolled, and over 8000 teachers, both in urban and rural areas.
The County School Inspectorate Brasov coordinates the managerial activity of the county pre university school net-work, providing the qualified teaching staff and personnel for the subordinate institutions, monitoring and offering them counseling and support. It is permanently assessing the correct implementation of the national curriculum readjusting and adapting annually the educational offer of the county schools to meet the demands of the ever changing socio-economic realities, in keeping with the highest standards of the European system of education.
The County School Inspectorate Brasov is permanently identifying new methods and modern strategies, according to the highest European educational standards, to ensure equal access to education and social inclusion, to reduce absenteeism and school dropout, early school leaving. This assumes the mission of ensuring an adequate and qualitative response from the pre-university education institutions in the county in order to increase the chances of success of future graduates, ensuring their development of life skills and abilities and leading to a decrease in functional illiteracy. The County School Inspectorate coordinates and monitors the activity in 9 educational clubs, where extracurricular, cultural, and sports activities are carried out, free of charge, in pupils' free time.
The County School Inspectorate also coordinates and monitories the activity of Teachers Center (responsible for continuous teachers training), County Resource and Educational Assistance Center (responsible for psycho-logical counseling, school guidance, and the integration of children with special needs in mainstream schools), and County center for excellence in education (which provides additional training to children with outstanding results in different fields). The County School Inspectorate has 45 employees – a general inspector, two deputies, 22 inspectors.
